The Assi trailer opens on a chilling note. No dramatic background score to ease you in. No glossy slow motion. Instead it drops viewers into a tense unsettling world that feels uncomfortably close to real life.

Taapsee Pannu leads the film as determined lawyer who refuses to compromise or look away.

The trailer suggests that her fight is not just against accused but against a system that prefers silence over accountability.

While Taapsee drives the legal battle, Kani Kusruti appears to be the emotional center of Assi. Her character feels like the heart of the story, the one who carries the pain that started it all. She’s a girl’s girl, after all.

‘Assi’ cast

Assi boasts an ensemble cast that reads like a list of actors known for strong, grounded performances. Alongside Taapsee and Kani, the film features Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub.

Adding to the intrigue are special appearances by Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, and Seema Pahwa.

Director Anubhav Sinha has never been afraid of uncomfortable subjects, and Assi continues that path. Speaking about the film, he said the story comes from everyday news, incidents we read about, discuss briefly, and then forget.

Taapsee Pannu has built a career on choosing strong, meaningful roles, and Assi seems to fit right into that space.
